2007 "Star" Employee of the Year

Each month hospital associates are chosen in a process that involves nominations and voting by their peers, patients, patient families, and physicians. At the end of the year, one of the stars is chosen as the Star Associate of the Year.

This year’s Associate of the Year is Heather Yount, RN, Charge Nurse Endoscopy.

Heather joined Oak Hill Hospital in January of 2001 where she worked on the fourth floor. Eventually she was appointed Charge Nurse of Endoscopy where she assists physicians and patients during endoscopy procedures. She and her husband Jeremy Yount have three daughters:  Alyssa Yount, 14, Hannah Yount, 5, and Grace Yount, 2. Heather’s nomination came from coworkers who extolled her attitude as a team player. Recently on a hectic day a nurse manager called the Endoscopy department inquiring if they could help by starting some of the preparation usually reserved for when a patient reaches the floors. Although the patient was already leaving the Post Anesthesia Care Unit (PACU), Heather went and obtained the necessary materials, preceded with the patient to the floor, and tended to the patient even taking vital signs. This act was truly appreciated by associates on the floor. For her part Heather says that she truly enjoys the people at Oak Hill Hospital. “We have a great group of people working at Oak Hill.”

This year Heather was a team captain for our recent Heart Walk (Her team captured 2nd place at Oak Hill Hospital with $ 1758 of the $13,000 + collected by Oak Hill Hospital.
